Meet Dr. Kathryn Stevenson, an associate professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (@ncstateprtm). She is teaming up with educators to create the Ready, Set, Resilience curriculum, using nature-inspired fables to teach kids how to overcome adversity. 🌎 📚
Through story-telling and trauma-informed activities, students learn to cope, build optimism and support one another after natural disasters.
“What we’ve found is that these fables allow students to explore really heavy topics at a psychologically-safe distance by showing them how nature has adapted to withstand some of the issues they’re dealing with.”

Congratulations again to all of our new @ncstatealumni!

✨Exciting adventures at the Center for Geospatial Analytics’ Geovisualization Lab✨
Mr. and Ms. Wuf recently learned how to use our lab’s cutting-edge visualization tools. In the Geovisualization Lab, maps leap off computer screens onto interactive 3-D displays and landforms respond to hand motions. 🗺️📊
One such tool is Tangible Landscape. Tangible Landscape is an interactive tool that allows users to shape a physical model (just like a sandbox) and instantly see a digital simulation of how those changes affect processes such as water flow, vegetation growth or urban design. Ph.D. student Caitlin Haedrich was recently invited to Belgium to install one of these innovative technologies at the Breda University of Applied Sciences.
📸: Drs. Georgina Sanchez (in white) and Anna Petrasova show the Wufs how to use Tangible Landscape.
